College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Karbala organizes a scientific symposium to combat violence against women

On the occasion of the 16 days of activism against violence against women, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Karbala organized a scientific symposium entitled “The Impact of the Social Environment on Violence against Women”, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Ibtaghaa Muhammad Qasim,

The symposium aimed to shed light on the challenges and problems facing women due to the influence of the surrounding social environment, with a focus on the importance of self-reform and spreading community awareness to confront the phenomenon of violence.

The symposium addressed several axes, most notably individual and societal responsibility in confronting violence, and the necessity of building an aware generation that respects laws and rejects all forms of violence against women. It also discussed the impact of the social environment that embraces the violent man, which may tolerate his behavior and does not recognize the seriousness of violence directed against women, whether verbal or physical.

The symposium concluded with a call to enhance women’s empowerment and reject acceptance of any form of violence, while emphasizing the importance of community awareness to create a supportive and safe environment for women for all
