Karbala University team participated in the Iraqi Universities Swimming Championship, which was held in the swimming pool of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Baghdad, with the attendance and participation of more than 50 public and private universities. The swimmers competed in various events, including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and 4×50 freestyle.
The team coach, Professor Assistant Dr. Majid Muhammad Amin, explained in a statement to the College’s Media Department that the university players competed strongly in all events, with the aim of enhancing the spirit of Olympic competition and discovering new talents among students.
The championship witnessed the participation of the Administrative Assistant of the College of Physical Education at the University of Karbala, Assistant Professor Abbas Abdul Hamza, in the 50-meter freestyle masters race, which brought together 34 former champions and specialists in swimming, in a competition that the participants described as strong and distinctive. Expressing his thanks to the President of the University, Professor Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, for his support of the university swimming team and Dean Dr. Khaled Muhammad. For his part, the Director of the Student Activities Department, Professor Dr. Hussein Makki Mahmoud, praised the efforts of the players and the intensive training that preceded the championship, stressing that this participation is the first building block for a strong start towards the upcoming championships. He thanked the University of Baghdad for the distinguished organization and good reception, and continued his thanks and appreciation to all team members and supervisors who made a great effort.
