Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Prof. Dr. Habib Ali Taher, the college, in cooperation with the College of Applied Medical Sciences and in the college’s discussion hall, organized a scientific awareness course entitled (Radioactive Radon Gas, the Silent Killer and its Effect on Human Health).
The assistant dean for administrative affairs and session rapporteur, assistant professor Dr. Abbas Abdel Hamza Kazem, assistant professor Dr. Hussein Manati, and teacher Manal inside Sakhel teaching at the College of Applied Medical Sciences attended the course and the course lasted for three days.
The course aimed to give a brief overview of what radioactive radon gas is, its sources, the danger of its impact on human health, its whereabouts and how to detect it.
This gas is considered the biggest cause of lung cancer after smoking.
During the course, I referred to the most important tips and things to know to reduce the spread of this gas inside buildings and homes and reduce the risk of its impact on health.
The course recommended the need to know the negative effects on the health of the individual and how to avoid them to live without side effects on public health.
It is worth noting that a number of faculty members and staff, and a number of students from both faculties, participated in the course.
