Assistant Professor Dr. Rafid Saad Hadi Al-Muhanna, Head of the Student Activities Department at the Presidency of the University and a teacher at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Karbala, was nominated within a ministerial committee, at the request of the Prime Minister, representing the University of Karbala, to attend an expanded sports conference to discuss how to advance the sports and youth reality, which will be held in The capital, Baghdad, in the presence of the Prime Minister and ministers of the ministries associated with this conference for a period of three days.
Al-Muhanna made it clear, in a statement made by the Media Division in the college: that the conference will discuss several issues, including legislation and laws related to sports, making a sports champion, sports economics, sports investment and employment, infrastructure and youth energies, sports for people of determination, women’s sports, school sports, university sports, Military sports, awareness of youth and the ills of society, strengthening the national faith of youth, the role of media in the development of youth and sports, sports and community health,
He explained that we are optimistic about the intellectual movement produced during the conference, because we will put problems and solutions before the highest executive authority in Iraq, hoping that we will come up with recommendations that put our sport on the right track so that it can take quick steps after we were very late in the sports field.
He pointed out that this conference is the first of its kind after 2003, in which the prime minister intends to rely on academics to draw up a new policy that promotes Iraqi sports, sponsors youth intellectually, ideologically, scientifically and culturally, and establishes the main bases for various sports such as school, women’s and military sports, and develops plans and programs for their development.
He concluded his statement that we have great hope in this conference to come up with recommendations and draft laws to save Iraqi sports, especially since the official sponsor of the conference is the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani.
