About the establishment of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences / Karbala University

The Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences was established as a department in the Faculty of Education / Karbala University. In 2008, it became an independent college under the title of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences. The first year was followed by the expansion of the College in terms of the number of scientific branches and the number of students. The necessity of scientific development and the availability of specialized cadres were made possible, in addition to the creation of other scientific branches, namely the Individual Games Branch and the Games Branch. Durr (12) students were accepted in the first batch of this study. In 2016, the evening study was introduced at the college. The college accepts direct admission of students from the preparatory school (scientific, literary) and a certain percentage of the admission plan for graduates of vocational studies as well as sports champions.

In the field of developing the qualifications of the teaching staff, the College has adopted an ambitious and great project to enhance the skills and qualifications of cadres by focusing on the programs of scholarships, fellowships and academic vacations, as these programs have a significant impact on the effective contribution to the development and progress of the college. The College is a top priority to be in line with the current and future developments in order to ensure leadership among the Iraqi and Arab colleges. The College also witnessed a continuous movement in the field of scientific research, including the development of the publishing movement and increasing the number of scientific researches. The College continues to develop the infrastructure of scientific laboratories, Sports stadiums. It is important to note the continuous and unlimited support given by the presidency of the University of Karbala to our College, represented by the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Munir Al-Saadi, where the University’s presidency has had a great impact on the course of the College and what has been achieved on the ground.
